3:16 PM Sunday, August 17, 2008 The 4 framed painting [right to left] is named AWAKENING [ 醒悟] "This work expresses the Buddhist concept of spiritual awakening to the impermanance of life - death itself. A live bird and a dead bird are repeated in sequence as the narrative unfolds from right to left. It progresses upward in a crescendo: from a young bird 'screaming' in shock; an older bird staring at the dead bird as if coming to some kind of realization; and finally in the last panel, the bird, perched on a branch has an enigmatic expression of acceptance." The following painting runs in a sequence... See if you can understand ^^ Labels: Reflections |
